My desktop software does not save the data I enter, including my registration code. What’s the problem?
orMy desktop software says it can’t find its data files. What’s the problem?
This means the desktop software has been unable to automatically find the handheld
version's data files. You will need to manually enter the path to the handheld version data files.
Here is an example for a case where the LifeNumbers program cannot find its data files:
- You need to open the data path screen using the menu at the top of the Windows
version main menu.
- A Data Path screen will appear. Here you can tell the program exactly where to find
your handheld version's data files. Now open your Windows file browser. You need to
locate where your handheld version data files are stored on your desktop computer. It
is the location of your handheld's data files. It is often a location like
"C:\Palm\[username]\LifeNumbers" or
"C:\Program Files\Sony Handheld\[username]\LifeNumbers"
...where "username" will be a variation of your device HotSync Name. The folder you
are looking for will contains files with names like "LN1.bak" and "LN1.cdb".
- Once you locate the folder that contains your LifeNumbers data files, you just
need to tell the LifeNumbers desktop program where to look for them. Return to the
LifeNumbers desktop program. In the lower portion of the Data Path screen, enter the
path to your data files. So you will be entering something like...
C:\Program Files\Palm\[username]\LifeNumbers\
- After entering the path to the data, click the [Use new data path] button at the
bottom of the screen. The program should now be able to locate your handheld version
data files in the future.
